Maersk adds new port call in Egypt

The Danish ocean carrier is adding Sokhna to its portfolio of ports in Egypt.

Ocean carrier Maersk Line is adding Sokhna to its portfolio of ports in Egypt, the carrier said.
Sokhna will be served by Maersk’s 344 Feeder service. The new feeder set up will be effective March 16 and will have a rotation of King Abdullah, Jeddah, Aqaba and Sokhna. The first call at Sokhna is expected to be March 23.
“Over the last years, Sokhna port has rapidly become the preferred gateway for the Eastern trades, catering for approximately 20 percent of the containerized market volume for Egypt, with Far East and Middle East being the main trading routes,” Maersk said.
Maersk operates at five other Egyptian ports, which include Port Said East, Port Said West, Damietta, Alexandria and Dekheila.
