Maersk amends Asia/Europe loops

Maersk amends Asia/Europe loops Maersk Line said this week it is tweaking the rotations of an Asia/Europe butterfly service in advance of the reinstatement of its joint big-ship Asia/Europe loop with CMA CGM.
   Maersk and CMA CGM will next week start up a service linking northern Europe and China, which Maersk calls AE8.
   As a result, Maersk will change the rotation on the AE1/AE10 butterfly so that it calls at Hakata instead of Shimizu in Japan, while the AEI leg will no longer call Hamburg (the German port will be covered by the AE8).
   Meanwhile, calls at Hamburg and Le Havre will also be dropped on the AE10 leg. The rotation of the total AE1/AE10, according to American Shipper affiliate ComPair Data, is Kobe, Nagoya, Shimizu, Yokohama, Hong Kong, Yantian, Tanjung Pelepas, Felixstowe, Rotterdam, Hamburg, Bremerhaven, Algeciras, Jeddah, Jebel Ali, Da Chan Bay, Ningbo, Shanghai, Kaohsiung, Yantian, Hong Kong, Tanjung Pelepas, Le Havre, Zeebrugge, Hamburg, Gdansk, Gothenburg, Aarhus, Bremerhaven, Rotterdam, Singapore, Hong Kong and Kobe.
   The service is operated with 21 Maersk vessels with an average capacity of 8,749 TEUs. Maersk subsidiary Safmarine is slot buyer on the service.
