Maersk bans Berbera, terminates Male

The ocean carrier Maersk Line advises that acceptance of cargo for Berbera (Somalia) is being suspended with immediate effect for at least three weeks. This is due to unexpectedly high volumes outstripping feeder capacity from Jeddah. The suspension is aimed to prevent a backlog buildup and applies to all cargo/equipment types from all origins and for all clients. It will only be lifted if conditions allow.
Maersk also annouced the end-August termination of its service to the island of Male (Maldives) via feeder from Colombo. This is in order to increase “operational efficiency”.
