Maersk chief Andersen out until April

   Maersk Group Chief Executive Officer Nils Andersen will be on leave until April as he recovers from heart valve surgery in December, the company announced this week.
   Andersen, who fell ill while on vacation last month, was initially due to return in February, but has been given until April to convalesce.
   “The board of A.P. Moller-Maersk and I want Nils Andersen to take the time necessary to fully recover,” Maersk chairman Michael Pram Rasmussen said in a statement. “The role as CEO of the A.P. Moller-Maersk Group is a job that demands a person 100 percent.
   “We want to have Nils Andersen onboard for the long term, and therefore it is the right decision for both Nils Andersen and AP Moller-Maersk, that he now focuses all his energy on convalescing, and we look forward to welcoming him back in April.”
   Maersk’s executive board will continue to run the company during Andersen’s absence.
