Maersk/CMA CGM Asia/Europe loops skip sailings

Maersk/CMA CGM Asia/Europe loops skip sailings
Maersk Line said this week it has canceled single voyages on two Asia/Europe services in which it partners with CMA CGM.
A sailing on the lines' AE11 service, scheduled to depart about Nov. 14-20, has been canceled.
'As a consequence of the above change, export cargo loading from Fos sur Mer, Genoa, and Gioia Tauro will not be available,' Maersk said in a customer notice. 'Export cargo loading from Port Said East can be rerouted to AE12 service or our AE3 service. All cargo to/from Middle East destinations will either be postponed or advanced by one week.'
According to American Shipper affiliate ComPair Data, the AE11 service is operated with 10 vessels, eight from Maersk and two from CMA CGM, with an average capacity of 8,636 TEUs. It has a rotation of Qingdao, Shanghai, Fuzhou, Hong Kong, Chiwan, Yantian, Tanjung Pelepas, Port Klang, Salalah, Port Said, Gioia Tauro, Genoa, Marseilles-Fos, Damietta, Port Said, Salalah, Port Klang, Singapore, Lianyungang and Qingdao. Maersk subsidiary Safmarine buys slots on the service, which CMA CGM calls MEX 2.
Meanwhile, another Maersk-CMA CGM Asia/Europe service (CMA CGM's PHEX loop, which Maersk and Safmarine calls AE12), skipped a sailing this week. The service is a nine-ship loop connecting the Far East and Med using smaller vessels than the AE11/MEX 2. It's operated with nine ships averaging 6,628 TEUs, five from CMA CGM, and two each from Maersk and Safmarine. It has a rotation of Shanghai, Busan, Hong Kong, Chiwan, Tanjung Pelepas, Port Klang, Port Said, Piraeus, Koper, Rijeka, Trieste, Damietta, Port Said, Jeddah, Port Klang, Singapore and Shanghai.
