MAERSK DATA USA PICKS EQUANT FOR CONNECTIVITY SOFTWARE    Maersk Data USA, a provider of information technology services, has formed a partnership with Equant, a provider of application service solutions, to provide an integrative software package for transportation operators.
   The Maersk company will use Equant’s IP VPN solution “to deliver provider-based services to customers around the world, including container terminals within ports, railroad depots, trucking companies and other support organizations,” said Aksel L. Nielsen, president of Maersk Data USA.
   Nielsen expects his company’s linkage with Equant to generate more than $17 million in revenues over three years. The software applications will be available on a usage-based, pay-as-you-go basis.
   Maersk Data USA is part of Maersk Data Group, which is a member of the A.P. Moller group of companies. Equant is part of the France Telecom Group.
