Teekay plans IPO for new spin-off
Horizon Lines said it has renewed and extended through 2010 all of its principal commercial and operating arrangements with the AP Moller Maersk Group. The arrangements had been set to expire at the end of 2007.
Horizon Lines and Maersk are parties to a number of agreements that include cargo space charters, terminal services, equipment sharing, and sales agency services. For example, Maersk charters space on Horizon's ships from Asia to the U.S. West Coast.
The companies have common roots in Sea-Land Service, the original container shipping line. Horizon operates Sea-Land's former domestic services to Alaska Puerto Rico, Hawaii and Guam. In 1999 Maersk acquired Sea-Land's international operations from CSX Corp.
