Maersk hikes transatlantic rates

Maersk Line announced a general rate increase for its transatlantic services, pointing to what it said was “market instability” in the trade.

The increase goes into effect April 1.

Rates between Northern Europe and the East and Gulf coasts of North America will increase $160 for 20-foot dry containers and $220 for 40-foot containers, high cubes, 45-foot containers and reefers.

Rates between Northern Europe and the West Coast of North America will increase $200 for 20-foot dry containers and $300 for 40-foot containers, high cubes, 45-foot containers and reefers.

The increases apply equally to all eastbound and westbound cargo moving between the United States and Canada and Northern Europe.
