Maersk hiking Asia-C.America rates

   Maersk Line said Tuesday it plans to increase rates on shipments from Asia to Central America and the Caribbean.
   From Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, South Korea, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam and Cambodia to the Dominican Republic, Haiti, Jamaica, Venezuela, Trinidad and Tobago, and Panama, the increase is $560 per 20-foot container and $800 per 40-foot or 40-foot high-cube container, and $455 per 20-foot container and $650 per 40-foot or 40-foot high-cube container to Cuba, effective Oct. 15.
   From China and Taiwan to the Dominican Republic, Haiti, Jamaica, Venezuela, Trinidad and Tobago, Panama, Santa Marta (Magdalena, Colombia), Cartagena (Colombia) and Barranquilla (Colombia), the increase is per 20-foot container and $800 per 40-foot or 40-foot high-cube container, effective Oct. 17.
