Maersk Line Ltd. to exhibit oversize military cargo option

Maersk Line Ltd. to exhibit oversize military cargo option Maersk Line Ltd., the U.S.-flag arm of the Denmark’s A.P. Moller Maersk Group, will exhibit an out-of gauge cargo option from ITL TechnologiesT Solutions Inc. at the National Defense Transportation Association’s annual conference next week in Charleston, S.C.

ITLT Solutions' Contrail allows oversize cargo to be transported on conventional containerships.

   ITLT Solutions' design, Contrail, allows oversize cargo that can’t fit into containers to be transported on conventional containerships. According to the release it doesn’t require any special handling equipment and can fit in containership cargo holds without modification, allowing for stowage below deck.
   “Contrail can benefit the U.S. military, shippers and carriers,” said Glenn Patch, president and chief executive officer of ITLT Solutions. “The military can greatly improve logistics mobility and speed by opening substantial new capacity and routes via U.S.-flagged commercial containerships.
   “The military and project cargo shippers benefit from more scheduled services not available from roll-on/roll-off bulk shipping. Carriers can move cargo they never could before efficiently and profitably.”
