MAERSK LOGISTICS EXPANDS IN LATIN AMERICA
Maersk Logistics, based in Copenhagen, said Monday it will open six new offices in Central America, Mexico, and the Caribbean.
The expansion gives Maersk Logistics eight offices in Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua and Panama.
“The recent passing of the Caribbean Basin Initiative (CBI), will entice more apparel manufacturers to source from these countries,” said Timothy Nolan, Maersk Logistics’ director of Central America, Mexico & Caribbean.
“Their goods, if they comply with the CBI, will be exempt from duty when imported into the U.S.,” Nolan said.
