Maersk names fourth “PS” class leviathan

A.P. Moller-Maersk on Saturday named its fourth mammoth “PS” class containership at its Odense Steel Shipyard in Lindo, Denmark.
   The delivery schedule of the “Evelyn Maersk” was slightly delayed due to adverse weather conditions and Christmas holiday periods. But the ship will soon join her sisters, the “Emma Maersk,” “Estelle Maersk” and “Eleonora Maersk” serving the Asia/Europe trade.
   The Danish group has given the series of eight ships a declared capacity of 11,000 TEUs, but they are believed to have a physical capacity closer to 14,800 TEUs. The vessels’ dimensions are 397 meters (1,302.5 feet) long, 56 meters (183.7 feet) wide and 30 meters (98.4 feet) deep.
