Maersk postpones EU advanced manifest fee
Maersk Line said last week it is delaying collection of a fee associated with new European advanced manifest rules from Jan. 1 to Jan. 15 to allow shippers to better familiarize themselves with the new rules.
The Danish line announced the $25 fee per bill of lading in late November, as have other lines. The rule requires liner carriers to submit an entry summary declaration to the first EU port of call at least 24 hours before cargo is loaded onto the vessel bound for the European Union.
Meanwhile, Maersk also said it will assess a $40 per bill of lading cargo declaration amendment fee as of Feb. 1 for EU-bound shipments. The fee is applicable ‘every time a transport document is amended,’ the line said.
