Maersk refloats grounded ship in Vietnam
Maersk Line said a containership that had grounded near the port of Vung Tau in Vietnam last week was refloated on Friday.
The 9,074-TEU Grete Maersk was refloated on May 13 and the company said there was no pollution, injuries or damages due to the incident.
Maersk said the ship grounded “as a result of modifying its course to avoid a potential collision with another vessel in the ship channel” on May 10 while en route from Tanjung Pelepas, Malaysia to Vung Tau, a port outside of Ho Chi Minh City.
A report in Thanhnien News said the other vessel was a fishing boat.
Grete Maersk is now making its way to Yantian, China.
