Maersk seeks COO for intra-Europe line    A job listing on the Maersk Line Web site provides some additional details about a new standalone intra-Europe carrier the Danish line is developing.
   “Maersk Line is in the process of establishing a new intra-Europe liner company, currently referred to as NEWCO, to increase focus and agility and to grow market share,” according to the job posting, which is for a chief operational officer. “The company will operate as a standalone legal entity with full P/L-responsibility, reporting to the Maersk Line CEO. As part of the senior management team the purpose of the COO function is to establish and run the operations function for the new intra-European services.”
   American Shipper reported Thursday that Maersk is setting up an intra-Europe specialist carrier modeled on the company’s successful intra-Asia specialist MCC Transport.
   Maritime publication Tradewinds reported Friday that Maersk has tabbed Jakob Bomholt to run the new intra-Europe line. Bomholt has been Maersk’s head of liner operations in Brazil since 2008.
