Maersk swaps N.Y.-N.J. terminals on TA2

   Maersk Line will in October switch its TA2 service calls at the Port of New York-New Jersey from the APM Terminals facility to the Maher Terminals facility, the line said this week.
   APMT is Maersk Line’s sister company. The switch will occur Oct. 9.
   The TA2 has a rotation of Rotterdam, Felixstowe, Bremerhaven, New York-New Jersey, Charleston, Savannah, Mobile, Houston, Miami, Norfolk and Rotterdam. It operates with five ships with an average capacity of 4,082 TEUs. CMA CGM, APL and Hyundai Merchant Marine take slots.
   “The service rotation and cutoff times will not change as a result of this adjustment,” the line said.
   A Maersk Line spokesman said the move is to “improve service to our customers. Capacity at the current terminal (APMT-Newark) was not sufficient to ensure an on-time reliable product, and it was therefore decided that the TA2 was better handled at Maher Terminals.”
   APMT had no immediate comment.
