The Memphis, Tenn.-based third-party logistics provider has opened a new warehouse and office in Miami to serve growing import and export demand in the region.
The new facility features a foreign trade zone (FTZ), as well as a container freight station, a bonded warehouse and an in-bond export consolidator (IBEC) warehouse. It will be used to handle all facets of general cargo supply chains, with a particular focus on electronics, apparel, consolidated freight all kind (FAK) and liquor products.
Mallory Alexander’s Miami division offers a range of logistics services including Customs consultation and clearance, automated importer pre-filing, quota entries and Free Trade Agreement utilization.
The company said it has appointed Alberto Marino Jr. and Alberto Marino Sr. to manage the new facility. Both are licensed Customs brokers, and Marino Sr. is a founder and former chief executive officer of freight forwarder Interport Logistics.
Mallory Alexander Chief Operating Officer Tinamarie Newman said the site’s FTZ designation should lower the cost of of import duties and provide tax relief to shippers.
“Miami is an important international gateway located strategically at the crossroads of the Americas, with a booming trade industry and a world-class transport network,” she said. “Our new facility will be able to store and handle cargo to and from South America, Central America and the Caribbean, as well as globally for importing and exporting.”
