Management Dynamics releases new air freight rate software

New Jersey-based global trade management software firm Management Dynamics Inc. has released a new software service for automating air freight logistics processes.

The new on-demand Air Rate Manager software allows shippers and logistics companies to make better routing and carrier selections and speed auditing of air waybills, which the firm claims will improve customer productivity while containing international transportation expenditures.

'Today, transportation budgets are under pressure requiring companies to implement proven international transportation management solutions that provide tools to effectively manage these sky-rocketing costs,' said John Preuninger, president of Management Dynamics. 'Air Rate Manager helps global organizations to centrally manage their air rates and to provide operating groups with an application to manage air freight costs by researching available routes & rates, optimizing carrier selection and auditing bills.'

Air Rate Manager is a module of the firm's Internet-based software-as-a-service International Transportation Management application. By providing real-time visibility into air freight rates, routing and carrier information, Management Dynamics claims the new module will enable shippers to evaluate all possible air freight routing and service options 'to optimize carrier selection decisions.'

In addition, the module also provides visibility into numerous rate-related variables, including fuel and security surcharges, to allow accurate calculation of a complete air freight bottom-line cost.

Key features of the new module include:

' A single centralized system to access up-to-date air freight rate and service information, including contract rates, tariff rates, rate agreements and spot rates.

' Calculation of full bottom-line shipment costs including air freight, pick-up and delivery rates and all applicable variables.

' Comparison of alternative services by carrier, point pair, rate type, commodity, hazardous designation and transit time.

' Audit air waybills against applicable rates and other variables to identify and resolve billing discrepancies.
