MarAd approves 4 vessels for flag transfer, 4 barges for scrapping    The U.S. Maritime Administration has approved four U.S.-flag vessels for transfer to overseas registries.
   David Kadinger Marine Service in Milwaukee received approval to sell the 1,740-gross-ton barge “Dorothy A. Kadinger” to Industrial Transport Ltd. in Trinidad for transfer to the Trinidad registry and flag. The vessel was built in Seattle in 1943.
   U.S. Bank National Association of Hartford, Conn., received approval to transfer the 32,629-gross-ton container vessels “Sea-Land Endurance” and “Sea-Land Express” to the Marshall Islands registry and flag, without change in the ownership of the vessels. The “Sea-Land Endurance” was built in Ulsan, Korea in 1980, and the “Sea-Land Express” was built in Tamano, Japan in 1980.
   SeaRiver International in Houston received approval to transfer the 94,999-gross-ton tanker “S/R Mediterranean” to the Marshall Islands registry and flag, without change in ownership of the vessel. The vessel was built in San Diego in 1986.
   MarAd also approved Brownsville, Texas-based Sanship’s request to scrap four barges in Mexico. The 1970s vintage barges range in size from 1,363 gross tons to 2,012 gross tons.
   Under section 9 of the 1916 Shipping Act, MarAd must approve U.S.-flag vessel transfer and scrapping requests.
