MarAd approves scrapping of U.S.-flag containership

The U.S. Maritime Administration has approved the sell of containership “Manulani” by Palm Coast, Fla.-based Eastern Overseas to Maritime Delivery in the British Virgin Islands for scrapping in China.

The 24,563-gross-ton U.S.-flag ship was built at Sparrows Point, Md., in 1970.

Under section 9 of the 1916 Shipping Act, MarAd must approve overseas scrappings of U.S.-flag ships.
