MarAd awards $17.1 million to shipyards
The U.S. Maritime Administration has awarded $17.1 million in grants to 14 small shipyards in 10 states.
Recipients, amounts, and purposes of grants are:
' North Florida Shipyards Inc., Jacksonville, Fla.; $3.31 million for waterblast equipment and a 600-ton travelift.
' Bay Shipbuilding Co. (A Division of Fincantieri Marine Group LLC) of Sturgeon Bay, Wis.; $2.89 million for 220-ton transporter, micro panel line, burning machine, magnetic lift beam and brake press.
' Aker Philadelphia Shipyard Inc., Philadelphia; $1.95 million for thermal machining center.
' VT Halter Marine Inc (Pascagoula), Pascagoula, Miss.; $1.56 million for a 450-ton transporter and portable retractable platen cover.
' Marinette Marine Co. of Marinette, Wis.; $1.4 million for bridge cranes, deck straightener, cable system and panel line jib cranes.
' Basic Marine Inc., of Escanaba, Mich.; $1.38 million for a cutting table, press brake and welders.
' Bollinger Shipyards Lockport LLC, Lockport, La.; $1.14 million for a press, plasma cutting table and 6″ mill.
' VT Halter Marine Inc., Moss Point Marine, Moss Point, Miss.; $868,011 for a CNC burning table.
' Total Marine Services of Jefferson Inc., of Harvey, La.; $640,264 for 100-ton crawler crane and welding equipment.
' Duclos Corp. dba Gladding-Hearn Shipbuilding of Somerset, Mass.; $629,675 for lifts, skylights, lighting upgrades, overhead cranes and two 22-ton cranes.
' Zidell Corp., Portland, Ore.; $454,042 for plasma cutting machine, welding equipment, vacuum plate lifter.
' VT Halter Marine Inc, Halter Moss Point, Mississippi: for $436,406 for press brake and CNC burning table.
' Pacific Ship Repair & Fabrication Inc., San Diego, Calif.;
$319,365 for waterjet cutting machine, press brake and shear.
' William E. Munson Co. Inc., Edmonds, Wash.; $150,585 for welders, shear and press.
