MarAd meetings for Great Lakes fleet study    The U.S. Maritime Administration will hold three public listening-session meetings to help gather information and comments for the agency's U.S.-flag Great Lakes Fleet Revitalization Study.
   The all-day meetings will be held in different locations, including Cleveland on Feb. 15, Duluth, Minn. on Feb. 23, and Chicago on Feb. 25, to 'maximize stakeholder participation,' MarAd said in a Federal Register notice.
   The study will examine Great Lakes shipping's current and potential future role in supporting the region’s economy and as an important component of the greater U.S. marine highway system. It will also assess the impact of new environmental regulations on the U.S.-flag Great Lakes fleet.
   'This study calls for the identification and evaluation of options to recapitalize U.S. vessels and port infrastructure on the Great Lakes, using private and public sector investments, to generate the greatest net benefits for the region and the nation,' MarAd said.
