MarAd ship scuttled to become reef
A former troop ship that was also used to track missiles was sunk in the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary on Wednesday.
The Hoyt S. Vandenberg was sunk seven miles south of Key West with explosive charges and will become an artificial reef, said the Maritime Administration, which donated the ship.
The Vandenberg is named after the Air Force general who served as its second chief of staff from 1948 to 1953.
Video of the sinking can be found here.
