Sultan of SONAR’s inaugural weekly market update

Zach Strickland, the “Sultan of SONAR,” curates the weekly market update. With a degree in Finance, Strickland spent the early part of his career in banking before transitioning to transportation in various roles and segments, such as truckload and LTL. He has over 13 years of transportation experience, specializing in data, pricing, and analytics.

SONAR is about gaining access to market data and predictive analytics to see where prices are moving and help companies make better business decisions. The idea behind the video analysis is to give data the human touch.

CEO and founder, Craig Fuller, says, “As an organization that values building on a strong community, we want our customers to get the human touch, as well as the technical. Our goal is to take our data and combine it with human intelligence to provide real-time insights and analysis on the trends happening before our eyes. Customers don’t just want data, they want to be able to interpret and have actionable data.”

This week’s analysis examines a brief overview of how to read the national OTRI. Strickland examines the Bollinger Band, and how to utilize that in analyzing the freight markets (OTRI). Then, he gives an overview of the L.A. market and also introduces listeners to the Freightos Baltic Index. He also looks at what we’ve seen over the past few weeks, with markets from L.A., and utilizes the Bollinger Band for his analysis of each of the markets.
