Marseilles container growth continues in Q1
Container volumes at the Port of Marseilles Fos rose 17 percent to 245,029 TEUs in the first quarter of 2010.
The volume increase included a significant rebound in intra-Mediterranean throughput, 31 percent to 63,933 TEUs, at the Marseilles harbor berths.
The port's deepwater Fos terminal saw volume grow 13 percent to 181,096 TEUs. Growth is expected to continue once two new services begin calling the terminal, including CSAV-Norasia's Asia-East Mediterranean service, which has called Fos.
