Marseilles-Fos’ box volumes flat after eight months
The French port of Marseilles-Fos handled 632,000 TEUs through August, up 1 percent over the first eight months of 2005.
Throughput at the Fos terminals, which handle east/west container services, increased 3 percent to 430,000 TEUs. The Marseilles terminal, used mainly for north/south and Mediterranean trades, declined 5 percent to 202,000 TEUs.
After eight months, total port traffic, including bulk cargoes, increased 1.9 percent to 65.8 million tons.
