Marseilles-Fos cargo up 3.6% in 2006

The Port of Marseilles-Fos said Thursday its cargo throughput in 2006 passed the 100-million-ton mark for the first time since 1980, reaching 100.1 million tons, up 3.6 percent over 2005.

   Container traffic at the Fos terminals, which handle east/west container services, was up 6.8 percent in 2006 to 646,171 TEUs. Combined with the Marseilles eastern harbor, total throughput at Marseilles-Fos grew 3.9 percent to 941,400 TEUs.
