Marshall Islands registry boost presence in Japan

Marshall Islands registry boost presence in Japan International Registries Inc. (IRI), the administrator of the Marshall Islands registry, has appointed Marine Bureau Inc. (MBI) to act as its official representative in Japan.
   MBI is one of Japan’s leading maritime services companies with more than 1,700 vessels on its books.
   “There are a growing number of Japanese ship owners and operators flying the Marshall Islands flag and our new partners, MBI, will provide world-class services to meet their needs,” said Bill Gallagher, IRI’s president.
   IRI said MBI's appointment is the latest development in its decentralization strategy to provide technical, marine safety and registration services to ship owners and operators around the world. In June, IRI established three divisions — Asia, Europe and the United States — to provide post registration, technical and inspection services.
