Martin to leave Waterways Council    The Waterways Council said Wednesday that Cornel Martin, its president and chief executive officer, will depart the Washington-based organization at the end of June.
   He has led the council since July 2008.
   “Over the last three years, we have made great progress restructuring and improving the organization, working with the Corps of Engineers and industry leaders to develop a plan to provide for the long-term future of inland waterways infrastructure investment for our nation, and bringing much more attention to the challenges we face through a successful TV and media campaign,” Martin said in a statement.
   Martin said he’s leaving to “pursue other interests,” but he will stay longer if needed to help with the transition. The council will now conduct an executive search to identify his successor.
   The Waterways Council advocates for a modern and well-maintained system of U.S. ports and inland waterways.
