Matson raises Guam rates, West Coast handling fees

Matson Navigation Co. said Thursday it is raising its rates for the Guam/Rota/Tinian feeder service by $100 per container, and increasing its West Coast terminal handling charge from $125 to $165 per container, both effective Aug. 21.

Rates for moving vehicles will increase by $25. The terminal handling charge for vehicles will increase from $35 to $40 per vehicle.

U.S. West Coast wharfage rates will increase 5 percent across the board, helping to offset rises in the wharfage charges assessed by West Coast ports, Matson said.

'This rate increase will help offset rises in Matson's operating costs and support ongoing investments in the company's Guam/CNMI service.' said Dave Hoppes, senior vice president, ocean services.
