MCCAHILL JOINS NORTON LILLY AS PRESIDENT, COO

   Brendan R. McCahill, former president and chief executive of Gulf &
Atlantic Maritime Services, has joined Norton Lilly International as
president and chief operating officer.
   In a related move, W. Grove Conrad will move to the position of vice
chairman and has been named president of China Shipping (North America) Agency Inc., a newly formed joint venture with Shanghai-based China Shipping (Group) Co.
   McCahill had served as CEO of Gulf & Atlantic since 1992. It was
announced last week that Gulf & Atlantic, Safmarine’s North America agent, will be merged into Safmarine Inc.
   Prior to joining Gulf & Atlantic, McCahill served in senior executives
positions at Associated Container Transportation and Blue Star Line.
   China Shipping Group is expected to enter the Pacific trade in
September. The company operates liner services on the intra-Asia,
Asia/Europe and Asia/Australia routes.
