The Med Can Conference, the rate-setting group covering
the trade between the Mediterranean and the East Coast of Canada, is the latest conference
to have announced the introduction of a westbound equipment surcharge of $250 (U.S.) per
container.
The "equipment imbalance service surcharge", effective on
Oct. 1, will apply to all westbound shipments, including those moving under service
contracts.
The Med Can conference lines are Canada Maritime, Cast, DSR-Senator and
Zim Israel Navigation.
