Mercedes-Benz USA moves to Brunswick
Mercedes-Benz USA has selected Brunswick, Ga., to be the site for a new vehicle preparation center (VPC) expected to open the first quarter of 2009.
The company's current center is located in Jacksonville, Fla. The new facility will process about 50,000 vehicles a year adding to the more than 75,000 Mercedes-Benz vehicles already exported out of Brunswick. The move is also expected to see the transfer or creation of 41 Mercedes-Benz USA jobs in the region.
'The move to Brunswick represents a tremendous opportunity for
Mercedes-Benz in terms of further improving efficiencies for our southeast VPC – one of the critical steps in the process of bringing new vehicles to market,' said Ernst Lieb, president and chief executive officer at Mercedes-Benz USA, in a statement.
'The proximity to the port, combined with better railroad and highway access and room for expansion, make Brunswick an excellent location for this facility,' he added.
