MercuryGate adds fleet management tool

The transportation management software (TMS) provider’s new capability allows users to optimize among contract and owned capacity as well as comply with driver safety standards.

The transportation management systems provider MercuryGate has added a module to allows users to manage their fleet operations within the same platform as other capacity, the company said Thursday.
The added capability, called MercuryFleet, allows users to manage drivers, equipment, and operations and also to optimize among its available contract, spot and fleet capacity. TMS providers are increasingly aiming to provide users a single platform to manage and optimize among modes. Fleet management tools are especially useful for shippers and asset-owning logistics companies  with in-house fleets to manage alongside external trucking capacity.
The new tool also allows users to ensure compliance with national safety standard for their fleets.
“The solution uses the algorithms and logic used in the Driver Safety Management System, the system used by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) to calculate measures and percentiles for each driver, allowing managers to proactively analyze driver performance and predict CSA scores,” the software company said in a statement.
MercuryGate develops, cloud-based, software-as-a-service TMS and procurement software for shippers, 3PLs and brokers across domestic and international modes.
