MercuryGate releases transportation procurement tool

The software provider’s freight sourcing solution is designed to give shippers and 3PLs a single platform for sourcing across modes and integrates with the company’s flagship TMS.    The cloud-based transportation management systems provider MercuryGate last week released a subscription-based transportation procurement solution for sourcing freight in all modes.
   The product, MercuryProcure is integrated with the company’s other products and is designed to allow customers to use carrier rating, carrier performance and real-time shipment data to project accurate costs as they make transportation purchasing decisions.
   The procurement tool can be used by shippers and 3PLs as well as carriers in all modes to responding to booking requests. Users can provide lane metrics to carriers as well as their standing in the current bid process, allowing carriers to be better informed regarding which lanes they choose to pursue and enabling improved participation rates in bid events, the company said.
   “The freight industry is complex, with multiple modes, varying rate structures and volatility in the market, both in terms of providers and capacity,” said Monica Wooden, MercuryGate co-founder and chief executive officer.
