Metzler to lead marketing for uShip

   Logistics industry veteran Dick Metzler has joined uShip as chief marketing officer. He will be responsible for the freight exchange’s brand development, online search, business development and corporate communications.
   uShip is an online marketplace connecting shippers, including brokers, with transportation service providers that are rated by customers in fixed price, spot market and auction-style transactions.
   Metzler was senior vice president of acquisitions at XPO Logistics from October 2011 until May 2013. From 2005 until 2011 he was chief commercial officer for Greatwide Logistics. He worked for two years as executive vice president for DHL, helping the company with its launch of domestic operations eight years ago. Metzler served as CEO of APL Logistics from 2000 to 2003 and previously held executive positions at TNT Express and FedEx Logistics, Americas.
   Metzler is expected to help uShip with its expansion strategy and further move to mobile devices.
   The company operates in 19 countries and is backed by three investment firms.
