The employees were recognized as part of the Miami-Dade Aviation Department's (MDAD) Customer Service Reward and Recognition Program for going above and beyond their job descriptions to provide customer service excellence and for being Good Samaritans.
Employees outstanding service efforts included Ernesto Alonso, MDAD Terminal Operations Agent, who searched and found on the Internet the owner of a lost bag that contained almost $10,000; Rosie Clayton, MDAD Landside Division Secretary, and Maurice Wright, Terminal Operations Public Service Assistant, who assisted two elderly passengers in Spain over the phone with a connecting flight; Leticia Tamara, MDAD Terminal Operations Agent, who helped a bewildered, elderly man find his lost luggage; Barry Fox, MDAD Terminal Operations Agent, who helped a teenager find her airline ticket after she had missed a connecting flight to Chile due to bad weather and lost her ticket when she spent the night in the airport; and Blanca Luz, a server at Altitudes Bar, who consistently serves food to a weekly MIA passenger with excellent customer service and a positive attitude.
Employees who won Good Samaritan awards were: Transportation Security Administration (TSA) officers Ernesto Lluberes, Jerry Meece and Anita Bullard, who assisted an airport employee having chest pain and called for paramedics, later discovering that the employee suffered a mild heart attack; and TSA officers Denise Rosario and Denise Gomez, who rescued a woman from a burning car while on their way to work, possibly saving the woman's life.
