Miami-Dade ITC planning Africa trade mission

Miami-Dade ITC planning Africa trade mission

Miami-Dade County's Jay Malina International Trade Consortium has tentatively scheduled an outbound trade mission to South Africa and Namibia for February or March of 2007.

The theme of the mission is 'Gateway of the Americas meets the Southern African Gateway.'

The county agency said the objective of the mission is to build business ties between Miami-Dade County and Africa, and to explore the possibility of a direct air route between Miami and Southern Africa.

The trade mission will visit the ports of Durban and Cape Town in South Africa, and will go to the secretariat of the Southern African Customs Union in Namibia. There will also be business matchmaking opportunities for five targeted Miami-Dade County businesses with counterparts in Southern Africa.
