Miami-Dade sets freight and transport job fair

Miami-Dade County's Freight Transportation Advisory Committee, working in cooperation with the Florida Customs Brokers & Forwarders Association, is organizing a freight and transportation job fair Oct. 6 in Miami.

The job fair will feature booths by employers from local government and staffing agencies, and warehouse, trucking and other transportation-service-related companies.

The specialty job fair will allow employers to expand recruitment efforts without significantly increasing costs, organizers said.

Companies can set up a booth for $100, and receive a $25 refund at the close of the fair. The fee covers a six-foot by six-foot booth with a table and two chairs, booth signage space, plus a free continental breakfast and lunch. Each company is limited to two representatives to work the event.

Job candidates will get onsite training and skill development tips, and extras such as advice on how to write a resume and other job-hunting tips.

The job fair will be 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at the Joseph Caleb Community Center, 5400 N.W. 22nd Ave. in Miami.

Booths will be reserved on a first come, first served basis. For information and registration, contact the FCBF at (305) 499-9490, by e-mail at [email protected], or at the Web site www.fcbf.com.
