Miami International AirportÆs freight up 5%

Miami International Airport's combined international and domestic air freight volumes were up 5.02 percent, topping 2 million short tons for the 12 months ending Nov. 30.

   International freight volumes increased 5.76 percent to 1.76 million short tons, while domestic freight volumes were up only 0.9 percent to 302,626 tons.

   For November, overall freight volume improved 4.4 percent year-on-year to 179,041 tons.

   Chile-based LAN Airlines was the leading freight carrier, followed by UPS, Peru-based Tampa Cargo, American Airlines and Centurion Air Cargo. Miami-based Centurion edged out Arrow Air to move into the top five for the first time.
