Microsoft live with TMC managed transportation

The software maker will use C.H. Robinson’s managed transportation subsidiary to handle global logistics, increasing visibility to make changes to fulfillment plans.    Microsoft has begun using C.H. Robinson’s managed transportation services subsidiary TMC for global logistics management, the third-party logistics provider said Tuesday.
   TMC is now live across Microsoft’s global network after the completed implementation in different regions.
   TMC offers a control tower network for its customers based on its single technology platform Navisphere and teams in São Paulo, Amsterdam, Wroclaw, Mumbai, Shanghai, and its headquarters in Chicago. TMC will manage transportation and logistics for Microsoft across all modes and in more than 100 countries.
   “This accomplishment and delivery of service is possible thanks to the dedication, talent and tireless efforts of our employees across the globe,” said Brent Nagy, vice president of enterprise strategy at TMC. “It was a multi-year project that required a high-level of synchronization among our teams at every global Control Tower location.”
   American Shipper profiled TMC in its July issue.
   “This makes visibility, flexibility and speed paramount in what we need from our global (transportation management system) technology provider,” said Alaina Hawkins, senior manager of global logistics at Microsoft. “Through the global deployment of TMC’s single transportation management platform, we have near real-time, end-to-end supply chain visibility, which enables us to make dynamic decisions on our fulfillment strategy.”
   Other TMC customers include Ocean Spray, Tetra-Pak, Cummins, Oshkosh Corp., Boise (a provider of packaging solutions) and IPC, the independent purchasing cooperative for Subway.
   “Their decision to utilize our single global platform capable of managing logistics in all regions and all modes speaks volumes of TMC’s ability to drive growth, differentiation and solutions for customers,” said Jordan Kass, president of TMC.
