MIDA members pushing for rate hikes    Members carriers of the Middle East India Sub-Continent Discussion Agreement have adopted general rate increase guidelines for the spring and summer.
   From May, the member lines will seek increases of:
   ' From the U.S. East and West Coast to the Middle East and Indian Subcontinent: $240 per TEU, $300 per FEU and $340 per 45-foot container.
   ' From the U.S. Gulf Coast to the Middle East and Indian Subcontinent: $315 per TEU, $390 per FEU and $440 per 45-footer.
   From Aug. 15, the lines will seek an additional increase:
   ' From the U.S. East and West coasts to the Middle East and Indian Subcontinent: $120 per TEU, $150 per FEU and $170 per 45-foot container.
   ' From the U.S. Gulf Coast to the Middle East and Indian Subcontinent: $160 per TEU, $195 per FEU and $220 per 45-footer.
   MIDA members are CMA CGM, Hapag Lloyd, Maersk Line, Swire Shipping, the National Shipping Co. of Saudi Arabia, and United Arab Shipping Co. The lines provide service from the United States to the Indian Subcontinent and the Middle East and Arabian Gulf.
