Miller to start importing Latin American beers

SABMiller Inc., the parent company of Milwaukee-based Miller Brewing Co., said Monday it plans to begin importing its popular Latin American brands into the U.S. to reach the growing market of Latin American expatriates in the U.S.

Miller said the move will be targeted at states with large South American populations, primarily Florida and New York.

The beers being added to the Florida market beginning in January include Aguila, Colombia's leading lager, plus the Peruvian brands Cristal and Cusque'a. Miller said Cristal is the best-selling local beer in Peru, while Cusque'a is a premium beer that originates from the legendary Inca city of Cuzco.

SABMiller will also increase its imports of Tyskie, the largest beer brand in Poland, which will be marketed to estimated 6 million Polish-Americans located in areas such as Chicago and New York.
