Turkish cargo operator MNG Airlines has signed a memorandum of understanding with Airbus for two A330-200 freighters and an option for one more.

The A330-200F, which had its industrial launch on Jan. 17, is capable of carrying 64 tons of cargo up to 7,400 kilometers, or 69 tons up to 5,930 kilometers in payload mode configuration.

Established in early 1996, Istanbul-based MNG Airlines operates with 10 Airbus A300B4-200s and eight F-27s aircraft, with scheduled cargo service between Turkey, England and Germany.

'Our intent today is to expand the operation of our fleet outside Europe, mainly to China and USA,' said Mehmet Nazif G'nal, founder and chief executive officer of MNG Companies Group.
