MOL begin Asia service to Jacksonville six months early MOL said it would begin calling at the Port of Jacksonville next month, six months ahead of schedule.
   In preparation for the opening of a new 158-acre terminal being developed by MOL’s TraPac subsidiary at the Jacksonville Port Authority, the ship MOL Vision will begin calling on Jacksonville’s Blount Island Terminal as part of its East Coast'South China Express service (ESX). Arrival is scheduled for July 7.
   In addition to Jacksonville, the ESX will add east and westbound calls at Balboa, Panama.
   Linking Central and South China and the U.S. East Coast via the Panama Canal, the ESX service is jointly operated by partners in the New World Alliance, which includes APL and Hyundai as well as MOL and CMA-CGM.
   As the future base of MOL’s U.S. South Atlantic port activities, TraPac will offer modern post-Panamax container handling systems and a yearly capacity of 800,000 TEUs.
   MOL noted Jacksonville is experiencing rapid growth from increased development in South Georgia and North Florida with about 50 major distribution centers nearby.
   The new ESX port rotation is Ningbo, Shanghai, Chiwan, Hong Kong, Balboa, Manzanillo, Jacksonville, Savannah, New York, Norfolk, Balboa, and Ningbo.
