MOL decides to restructure organization

The Japanese shipping company has also submitted an application to establish a logistics subsidiary in India.    Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd (MOL) will restructure its organization effective April 1, the Japanese shipping company said Friday.
MOL is establishing the Product Transport Business Unit, under which much of the carrier and port divisions will reside.
The company will also establish the “One MOL” Business Strategy Execution Office in the Corporate Planning Division to engage in business intelligence and cross-sectional business promotion.
In addition, MOL will reorganize the Energy Transport Business Unit, establishing the Bunker Business Office as an independent office within the unit, and the Bunkering Group of the Tanker Division will be abolished.
MOL will also form the New Business Creation Group in the Group Business Division – which is being renamed to the New Business Creation and Group Business Division – to research, plan and implement new businesses and policies.
The company is also transferring the group that is responsible for LNG carrier projects in Russia and China to the LNG Carrier Division, and restructuring the Offshore & LNG Project Division to be an organization that engages in efforts to expand the offshore business. Accordingly, the Offshore & LNG Project Division will be renamed to the Offshore Project Division.
In addition to the organizational changes, MOL has submitted an application to the Indian government to establish a subsidiary in India. Should the application be approved, the subsidiary would take over the logistics business from Mitsui O.S. K. Lines (India) Pvt. Ltd., effective April 3, and would operate in Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Ahmadabad, Bangalore and Pune.
