MOL, PIL team up in Asia/South Africa/East Coast South America trade

MOL, PIL team up in Asia/South Africa/East Coast South America trade

Following the decision of Mitsui O.S.K. Lines (MOL) and P&O Nedlloyd to dissolve their partnership in the Far East/South Africa/East Coast of South America trade, MOL and Pacific International Lines (PIL) are starting a joint weekly service between the regions from mid-July.

The new service will use 11 vessels of about 2,800 TEUs with MOL providing eight ships and PIL three. The port rotation will be Kobe, Yokohama, Nagoya, Pusan, Shanghai, an as yet unnamed port in Shenzhen region, Hong Kong, Singapore, Durban, Santos, Buenos Aires, Montevideo, San Francisco do Sul, Paranagua, Santos, Rio de Janeiro, Cape Town, Port Elizabeth, Singapore, Hong Kong and back to Kobe.

MOL said the existing “ASAS/CSW” joint service with P&O Nedlloyd did not include westbound calls at Durban.
