MOL realigns North American business

MOL (America) said Wednesday it has made changes to its North American organization, replacing its regional structure with an area-wide product management group.

Under two new vice presidents, MOL has established two area-wide sales and customer service functions that are responsible for managing and directing the company's sales and customer service activities throughout North America. The idea, the Japanese carrier said, is to streamline business processes and improve service delivery and customer satisfaction.

As a result Paul McClintock has been named vice president North America sales. McClintock was formerly regional vice president for the Southeast region, but is now responsible for the planning and leadership of all North American sales activities.

Steve Ryan, formerly regional vice president for the Midwest region, is vice president North America customer service, where he will plan and direct all customer service activities, including export booking, import cargo delivery, documentation and U.S. Customs compliance.

Dennis Sheehan and Jim Galligan, formerly regional vice presidents for the Northeast and West Coast regions, respectively, will become vice president Atlantic and Pacific services, respectively. Sheehan and Galligan will direct the activities of the North America service offices, with each responsible for customer and vendor relations, service performance and security.

In addition, MOL has expanded its area operations group by creating new specialized units — two coastal logistics teams responsible for optimizing asset utilization, and an area motor carrier operations group responsible for traffic management, purchasing and dispatch. Each will report to Dick Craig, vice president of area operations.

'By aligning company resources with the changing needs of our customers, MOL is well positioned to provide a greater level of customer attention and service, while concurrently improving our operational efficiency,' said Thomas M. Kelly, executive vice president and chief operating officer of MOL North America, in a statement.
