MOL ship accident death toll up to six

The death toll from the Mitsui O.S.K. Lines-operated iron ore carrier “Giant Step,” which went aground off eastern Japan on Friday, has reached six after four more crewmembers were found dead.

One of the deceased drifted to shore, while three others were found at sea. MOL Wednesday began a search inside the ship for the last four missing crew members but found no survivors.

The crew of the “Giant Step” included 25 Indian nationals and a Sri Lankan captain. Thirteen were rescued by Japan Coast Guard helicopters and three drifted ashore.
