MSC adds 25% of new large ship capacity in Æ10    Swiss liner carrier Mediterranean Shipping Co. added 276,000 TEUs worth of fleet capacity in ships larger than 4,000 TEUs in 2010, far and away more than any other carrier in the world, according to statistics compiled by maritime consultant Dynamar.
   Dynamar said nearly 1.2 million TEUs of capacity in ships larger than 4,000 TEUs was added during the year (either owned or chartered), meaning MSC was responsible for nearly one in four TEUs added last year. MSC's capacity expansion was nearly double that of the second-biggest adder, CMA CGM at 142,000 TEUs, while it also added more ships (26) than any other carrier during the year.
   Chilean line CSAV also added considerable capacity, 22 ships and 108,300 TEUs of capacity. Rounding out the top five is COSCO at 96,300 TEUs, Hapag-Lloyd at 82,600 TEUs, and Maersk Line at 63,700 TEUs.
